Memorial Belltower
The Memorial Belltower is the symbol of NC State. For students, alumni, employees and supporters, nothing inspires more pride than the granite tower, built over 20-plus years to memorialize students killed in World War I.
This year, we set out to build the Belltower an online home worthy of its place in our supporters’ hearts. Our aim was to celebrate the meaning and heritage of the Belltower in a way that would engage viewers emotionally. We also aimed to build a site that offers equal rewards to those who spend only a few minutes on it and those who dig deep and return regularly. Using new and existing content — copy, video, photos, graphics — we built a site that fully conveys the history of the Belltower and its place at the center of campus culture.
We also wanted to build a model for future efforts to construct more robust web presences for significant places on the NC State campus. Our objective with this page and its successors is to build sites that evoke the strong feelings for NC State and its campus in our students, graduates, employees and supporters.
